Christie's, who began offering American Indian art for the pass 30 years has closed the department that deal which dealt with American Indian Art. They also cancelled the upcoming American Indian art auction that was scheduled for May 24 of this year.
It has been said the main reason for the closing of the department was the increased competition in this rapidly grown collecting field.
Sara Fox, of Christie's public relation department announced, " As the world's leading art business, it is incumbent upon us to review and update our strategies based on evolving market needs. We are currently reviewing our strategy for American Indian art..."
